Altcoins could reach a combined market capitalization of $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion over the coming months if the market confirms a recovery on the weekly chart, according to crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe. His outlook depends on whether the market can reclaim a recently lost support level before the weekly candle closes.
Van de Poppe considers the earlier move to a new high evidence that altcoins have entered a bull market. Although the subsequent pullback pushed prices below a recent low, he argues that the broader structure could remain constructive if the market holds above the deeper trough established before the rally. Such a move would establish a higher low, a key condition in his technical assessment.

Conversely, another weekly close below that level would weaken the recovery argument and leave the anticipated confirmation absent. Van de Poppe has not specified an exact dollar threshold for this condition.
His projected gains of 100% to 200% refer to individual altcoins rather than the entire market. The distinction matters because a rise in aggregate market capitalization does not require every token to participate equally. Some assets could outperform substantially while others record smaller advances or continue to lag.
Bitcoin's price behavior represents another important variable in the outlook. In a separate assessment, Van de Poppe said he saw a significant possibility that Bitcoin was forming a bottom. He expects smaller digital assets to outperform if Bitcoin subsequently enters a sideways trading range.
That scenario would potentially create room for capital to rotate toward altcoins without Bitcoin continuing to dominate market performance. However, relative outperformance against Bitcoin does not necessarily translate into equivalent gains in dollar terms. The strength and breadth of any altcoin advance would remain dependent on broader market participation.
A sustained Bitcoin rally could challenge this thesis. If Bitcoin begins attracting a greater share of trading capital as its price advances, smaller tokens could lose their relative advantage. This would potentially delay the expected altcoin rotation and make the projected market capitalization target harder to achieve within the anticipated timeframe.
Analyst Moustache has also characterized the recent decline as consolidation within an existing bull market, suggesting that the pullback does not necessarily invalidate the broader upward structure. However, this remains an analytical interpretation rather than confirmation that the market has resumed its advance.
The immediate focus is whether altcoins can finish the week above the recently lost level and preserve the higher-low structure identified by Van de Poppe. Beyond that technical confirmation, Bitcoin's ability to stabilize rather than accelerate higher could determine whether smaller digital assets have sufficient room to outperform.
The $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion market capitalization projection therefore remains conditional. A confirmed weekly recovery combined with a period of Bitcoin consolidation would strengthen the bullish scenario. Failure to reclaim the relevant level or a renewed Bitcoin-led rally would weaken the case for a broad altcoin advance.
