World, the crypto project co-founded by Sam Altman, has launched a new financial application called World Money, allowing users to send, receive, buy, and sell stablecoins and other digital assets.
The application is designed as a self-custodial platform, meaning users retain control of their assets rather than having the company directly hold their funds. This structure places asset control and access with the individual user.
World Money also provides access to external services from within the application, including platforms such as Kalshi and Morpho. The integration expands the app beyond basic digital-asset transfers and trading by giving users access to additional financial services through the same interface.
The launch represents another step in World’s broader effort to build financial functionality around its digital-asset ecosystem. With self-custody at the core of the application, the model also keeps direct control of user funds outside the company’s custody.
