A long-term Shiba Inu investor who acquired approximately 103 trillion SHIB in 2020 for just 37.8 ETH has transferred another 1.07 trillion tokens, worth approximately $4.94 million, according to on-chain researcher EmberCN.
The transaction brings renewed attention to one of SHIB's earliest large-scale holders, whose initial acquisition has grown into a substantial cryptocurrency portfolio following the memecoin's expansion over subsequent years.
At the time of the original purchase, the 37.8 ETH used to acquire the tokens was worth approximately $13,700. The scale of the investor's position illustrates the considerable difference between the initial acquisition cost and the current reported value of the remaining holdings.
According to EmberCN, the investor has sold a cumulative 11.73 trillion SHIB through transactions conducted in 2021 and this year. Those sales generated approximately $74.74 million, indicating that the wallet has already realized a substantial return while maintaining significant exposure to the token.
Despite the previous disposals and the latest transfer, the investor reportedly retains approximately 91.6 trillion SHIB, valued at around $418 million. The remaining position represents a considerable concentration of SHIB supply in a single early investor's hands.
From a market perspective, the latest transfer is notable primarily because of its scale and the potential implications of a large holder moving tokens. However, a transfer alone does not establish that the investor intends to sell. The destination of the tokens and any subsequent movement toward an exchange would be more relevant indicators when assessing potential selling pressure.
The distinction matters for SHIB because large early-holder positions can influence market perceptions even when no immediate sale takes place. A substantial transfer may attract attention to the possibility of supply entering circulation, but its actual market impact depends on what happens after the transaction.
SHIB previously reached a point where its market capitalization exceeded Dogecoin's, placing it among the most prominent assets of the memecoin market. That history provides context for the scale of the investor's position and the significant appreciation associated with the token's earlier market expansion.
The next important development to watch is whether the transferred tokens remain in a private wallet, move through additional addresses, or reach a trading platform. Further sales would provide stronger evidence of distribution and could increase concerns about potential supply pressure. Without confirmation of a sale, the transaction should be interpreted as a large wallet movement rather than a definitive bearish signal.
For now, the investor's reported remaining balance of 91.6 trillion SHIB keeps the wallet among the most significant positions highlighted in the token's early ownership history.
