Uniswap’s UNI token has fallen 26.94% over the past thirty days, but its broader technical structure remains above its long-term trend. At $7.08, UNI is trading 53.28% above its 200-period moving average, even as its shorter-term indicators reflect mounting selling pressure following a substantial rally.
The divergence between short-term weakness and longer-term strength leaves UNI at a technical crossroads. The recent decline has erased a meaningful portion of its gains, but it has not yet reversed the broader trend reflected by the long-term moving average. Whether the pullback stabilizes or develops into a deeper correction will depend partly on how price behaves relative to its shorter-term averages and whether the long-term support structure holds.
UNI’s thirty-day decline contrasts with its 81.38% gain over the preceding ninety days. That performance explains why the token remains well above its long-term average despite the recent sell-off. The retreat appears substantial when measured against the latest rally, but the broader advance continues to shape the technical picture.
The distinction matters because a sharp correction does not automatically establish a bearish long-term trend. Price can fall considerably while remaining above a rising long-term average. However, the distance between price and that average is not a guarantee of support. It can narrow through further selling or through a period of consolidation while the average gradually catches up.
The persistence of a golden cross reinforces the mixed outlook. The medium-term moving average crossed above the long-term average seventy-eight periods ago and has not crossed back below it. This indicates that the longer-term moving-average structure remains positive, although the signal is backward-looking and does not establish that the rally will resume.
The more immediate concern is the deterioration in UNI’s shorter-term technical structure. Price is trading 3.15% below its twenty-period moving average and 9.14% below its fifty-period average. Both averages now sit above the market, potentially acting as resistance during any recovery attempt.
The gap beneath the fifty-period average is particularly relevant because it indicates that price has moved materially below its medium-term trend. A rebound that fails to recover these averages would leave the recent weakness unresolved. Conversely, a sustained move back above them would suggest that selling pressure is easing and could strengthen the case for a corrective pullback within the broader advance.
Momentum offers little confirmation of either outcome. UNI’s relative strength index stands at 47.8, close to neutral territory. The indicator has recovered from oversold conditions without moving into an extended positive reading. That leaves momentum neither strongly bearish nor sufficiently strong to confirm a recovery.
Volatility has also moderated, with annualized realized volatility falling from 107.7% over the ninety-day window to 82.2% over the thirty-day period. The decline suggests that recent price fluctuations have been less pronounced than those across the broader measurement period, despite the substantial monthly loss.
That moderation should not be interpreted as evidence that the downside risk has disappeared. Lower measured volatility can accompany an easing of selling pressure, but it can also reflect the fading influence of earlier, more dramatic price movements. UNI’s average daily true range remains equivalent to 6.49% of its price, indicating that sizeable daily moves remain consistent with its recent trading behavior.
The token’s position within its broader trading range provides additional context. UNI has traded between $2.38 and $9.83 over the reported fifty-two-period range. At $7.08, it remains in the upper portion of that range, approximately 63% of the way from its low to its high.
However, the one-year return stands at negative 8.93%. The contrast between the strong ninety-day gain and the weaker annual performance illustrates how much of the recent advance followed an earlier period of weakness. The monthly decline is therefore a substantial retracement from a relatively high point in the range, rather than evidence that the token has returned to its previous lows.
Longer-term history also tempers the positive interpretation of the moving averages. UNI’s recorded all-time high is $43.16, reached in May 2021. The current price remains 83.62% below that peak, and the token has spent more than five years below its record high. Its deepest recent drawdown reached 71.76%.
These figures highlight the limitations of assessing trend strength through a moving average alone. UNI can maintain a constructive intermediate-term structure while remaining far below its historical peak. The current technical picture is therefore better understood as a recovery that has encountered a significant correction, rather than evidence that the token has fully regained its former market strength.
The available forecasting model points to modest further weakness, projecting a decline of 1.24% over three months and 4.55% over one year. These estimates suggest a relatively gradual downward bias rather than an outright collapse, although model projections are not guarantees and cannot establish how the market will respond to new information.
The key question is whether UNI can stabilize beneath its shorter-term moving averages without losing the broader structure that has supported its recovery. A sustained recovery above the twenty- and fifty-period averages would improve the near-term technical picture. Continued weakness would increase the risk that the current pullback extends, gradually narrowing the substantial gap above the two-hundred-period average.
For now, the evidence remains divided. The long-term moving-average structure is still positive, but shorter-term trend measures indicate that buyers have lost ground. UNI’s next directional signal will depend less on the size of its existing cushion above the long-term average than on whether price can recover its nearer-term trend indicators or continues to retreat.
