OKX’s latest proof-of-reserves report shows a significant increase in user Bitcoin and Ethereum holdings, alongside a notable decline in USDT balances. The figures, based on a snapshot taken on November 1, suggest a shift in the composition of assets held on the exchange, with Bitcoin and Ethereum gaining ground while stablecoin reserves moved lower.
According to OKX’s 49th reserve report, Bitcoin holdings increased by approximately 13,800 BTC, representing a 9.66% rise to 156,609 BTC. Ethereum reserves also expanded, climbing by 54,879 ETH, or 2.95%, to approximately 1.92 million ETH.

The contrasting movements highlight a change in the distribution of assets held by OKX users. The increase in Bitcoin and Ethereum balances alongside falling USDT reserves could reflect users reallocating part of their stablecoin holdings toward major cryptocurrencies. However, reserve data alone cannot establish whether these movements represent long-term investment decisions, short-term trading activity or transfers between exchange accounts and external wallets.
The report provides a snapshot of customer asset balances rather than a direct measure of buying pressure across the entire cryptocurrency market. Nevertheless, changes in exchange reserves can offer useful insight into how users are positioning their assets and how the composition of funds held on major trading platforms is evolving.
The decline in USDT balances is particularly notable because stablecoins are widely used as trading liquidity and as a temporary store of value during periods of market uncertainty. A reduction in exchange-held USDT could indicate that some users are moving funds elsewhere or deploying stablecoins into other assets. The simultaneous growth in Bitcoin and Ethereum holdings makes asset reallocation one possible explanation, although the report does not confirm the reasons behind these changes.
For market participants, the next step will be to monitor whether the increase in Bitcoin and Ethereum reserves continues and whether USDT balances experience further declines. ETF flows, broader exchange activity and price movements will also help determine whether the latest figures reflect a lasting change in investor positioning or a temporary adjustment in user balances.
