Cryptocurrency market sentiment has deteriorated sharply following the reported $6.3 billion Binance hack, with growing bearish commentary surrounding Bitcoin, XRP and other major digital assets. The decline in confidence has accompanied a broader market pullback, with Bitcoin falling toward $76,000 and altcoins experiencing significant losses.
According to sentiment analytics platform Santiment, negative commentary across cryptocurrency-related social media and community discussions has increased substantially over the past two months. The latest deterioration suggests that market participants are becoming increasingly defensive as falling prices and security concerns reinforce uncertainty across the digital-asset sector.

3 assetsThe data highlights a notable divergence in sentiment among major cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin currently records a ratio of 0.69 bullish comments for every bearish comment, while XRP stands at 0.61. Both readings indicate that negative expectations are outweighing positive commentary within the measured social discussions.
Ethereum presents a comparatively stronger picture, with a bull-to-bear commentary ratio of 1.14. This suggests that positive discussions still exceed negative ones for ETH. However, Santiment notes that Ethereum sentiment has also weakened considerably since September, indicating that the broader deterioration in market confidence is not limited to Bitcoin and XRP.
The figures point to a market environment in which negative sentiment is becoming increasingly widespread. The Binance security incident appears to have intensified existing concerns, while declining prices have added further pressure to investor confidence. This combination can create a reinforcing cycle in which negative expectations contribute to selling pressure, and additional price declines generate further pessimistic commentary.
However, deteriorating sentiment does not necessarily indicate that prices must continue falling. Historically, periods of extreme pessimism have sometimes coincided with conditions that preceded market recoveries. When negative expectations become heavily concentrated, the market can become vulnerable to a reversal if subsequent price action fails to confirm the prevailing bearish outlook.
Santiment's analysis highlights an important distinction between sentiment deterioration and an actual market bottom. Extreme fear alone is insufficient to establish that downside pressure has been exhausted. A more constructive signal would emerge if bearish commentary remained dominant while Bitcoin and XRP stopped establishing new price lows.
Such a divergence between sentiment and price action could indicate that negative expectations are becoming increasingly reflected in market valuations. If prices begin stabilizing despite persistent pessimism, the conditions could support a medium-term relief rally.
For Bitcoin and XRP, the current bull-to-bear ratios provide a useful reference for tracking changes in market psychology. A sustained recovery in sentiment would suggest improving confidence, while continued deterioration alongside fresh price lows would reinforce the existing bearish environment.
Ethereum's relatively stronger sentiment also provides a point of comparison, although its declining optimism suggests that it is not entirely insulated from broader market concerns.
The next important development will be whether market prices can stabilize while negative commentary remains elevated. If that occurs, the divergence could strengthen the case for a relief rally. If bearish sentiment continues to coincide with lower prices, however, the possibility of a more prolonged period of market weakness would remain.
