Zcash (ZEC) is facing mounting downside risk after falling 31.1% in three weeks, retreating from a recent high of $1,698 to $1,168. The pullback has placed the privacy-focused cryptocurrency at a critical technical juncture, with the $1,041 level emerging as a key threshold for maintaining its bullish market structure.
Despite the recent decline, ZEC remains significantly higher than its 2026 low of $184.57, representing an increase of approximately 536% from that level. However, the speed and depth of the latest correction have raised questions about whether buyers can regain control before the price tests lower support zones.
On the daily chart, Zcash’s Bollinger Bands remain widely separated, indicating elevated volatility. The rally from $1,041 to $1,698 began in September, but much of that advance has since been erased. A period of consolidation above the psychological $1,000 mark, accompanied by narrowing Bollinger Bands, could help stabilize price action and preserve the broader bullish structure.
The $1,041 level is particularly important because holding above it would keep the identified bullish swing structure intact. A sustained move below this threshold, however, could weaken the bullish outlook and expose ZEC to a deeper correction. The source analysis identifies the $750–$800 region as a potential downside target if a daily session closes below $1,041.
Shorter-term technical signals also suggest caution. Crypto analyst Altcoin Ardi highlighted the $1,095 area as a critical support zone on the four-hour chart, while identifying the $800 region as a potential liquidity area associated with previous swing highs. The formation of successive lower lows and a lower high after a rebound would reinforce the view that sellers remain in control.
ZEC’s reaction around the $1,090 demand zone may therefore be crucial in the coming weeks. A strong recovery could help restore confidence among bullish traders, while a weak response could increase the risk of another leg lower. Broader cryptocurrency market conditions, particularly an extended Bitcoin correction, could add further pressure.
For now, the key distinction is between a correction within a broader uptrend and a breakdown that invalidates the current bullish structure. Holding above $1,041 would preserve the technical case for stabilization, while a confirmed daily close below that level would increase the likelihood of a move toward $750–$800. Until ZEC demonstrates a stronger bullish reaction, the risk of further volatility remains elevated.
