XRP launched its first official account on X on October 19, more than 14 years after the cryptocurrency was created, establishing a dedicated communications channel jointly managed by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation. The account gained more than 47,000 followers within hours of its debut, drawing immediate attention from across the digital-asset industry.
The launch opened with the message “hello, world. It’s about time,” accompanied by a 10-second video featuring the XRP logo. The account identifies XRP as the native asset of the XRP Ledger, a decentralized blockchain designed for payments, and directs users to the cryptocurrency’s official website for information on transaction settlement and network functionality.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse welcomed the launch, describing the account’s arrival as long overdue. The XRP Ledger Foundation also celebrated the debut, while cryptocurrency exchanges Gemini and Uphold, payment provider MoonPay and blockchain interoperability network Flare were among the industry participants engaging with the account.
The new channel gives XRP a dedicated social media presence supported by two organizations closely associated with its ecosystem. However, the move is a communications development rather than a change to the underlying network. XRP was created in 2012, and the XRP Ledger operates independently of Ripple through a decentralized validator network. The account’s launch does not alter token ownership, supply or network governance.
That distinction matters because Ripple and XRP are closely associated in public perception, despite their different roles. A joint communications channel may make information about the asset and its underlying infrastructure easier to access, but it does not by itself establish changes in adoption, transaction activity or demand for XRP.
The timing also places the launch within a broader period of activity across Ripple’s institutional and payments ecosystem. Ripple’s Swell 2026 conference is scheduled for October 27–29 in New York City, approximately one week after the account’s debut. The three-day event is expected to bring together more than 1,500 attendees, with over 100 speakers and 80 sessions focused on tokenization, institutional payments, digital-asset infrastructure, stablecoins and decentralized finance.
This year’s program combines Swell with the XRPL Apex developer summit and the University Blockchain Research Initiative’s UBRI Connect event for the first time. The expanded format brings financial institutions, technology companies, developers and policymakers into a shared program examining blockchain-based financial services and institutional adoption.
For XRP, the significance of the conference will depend less on the size of the event than on whether discussions translate into measurable developments across payments, infrastructure and network usage. A larger industry gathering can increase visibility for the XRP Ledger, but commercial integrations and sustained transaction demand would provide more concrete evidence of progress.
Ripple has already expanded its payments infrastructure through a recent integration with Cross River Bank, which introduced support for its RLUSD stablecoin within the bank’s core payment infrastructure. The integration connects conventional banking services with transactions on the XRP Ledger, highlighting the role stablecoins and payment infrastructure may play in Ripple’s broader strategy.
RLUSD and XRP serve different functions within the ecosystem, however. The addition of stablecoin support does not automatically translate into greater demand for XRP. The market relevance for the token would depend on how the infrastructure is used and whether the resulting activity generates meaningful demand for XRP within the network.
The official account launch also follows Evernorth Holdings’ Nasdaq listing under the ticker XRPN after its merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II. The Ripple-backed company holds approximately 473 million XRP, placing it among the largest publicly traded corporate XRP treasuries. Its business combination was expected to generate approximately $300 million in gross cash proceeds before transaction expenses.
Evernorth was established to provide institutional investors with exposure to XRP through publicly traded shares. Garlinghouse serves as a strategic adviser to the company alongside other Ripple executives, while former Ripple executive Asheesh Birla leads it as chief executive.
The company has selected Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase and BitGo as its initial institutional execution partners. It plans to begin deploying capital from its XRP holdings during the fourth quarter of 2026 through institutional investment strategies, with potential expansion into XRP Ledger lending and decentralized finance as those markets develop.
Evernorth’s structure introduces another dimension to XRP’s institutional profile. A publicly traded company holding a substantial amount of the token creates a corporate vehicle through which investors can obtain XRP-linked exposure without directly holding the asset. However, shares in such a company are not equivalent to spot XRP ownership, and the existence of a large treasury does not establish that the company will continue accumulating tokens or that its holdings will translate into immediate market demand.
The planned deployment of Evernorth’s capital will therefore be a more substantive development to assess than the listing alone. The scale, timing and nature of its investment activity could help clarify how the company intends to use its XRP holdings and whether its strategy extends beyond passive treasury exposure.
Taken together, the official account launch, Swell 2026, Ripple’s payments integration and Evernorth’s Nasdaq listing point to several parallel efforts to expand XRP’s visibility and institutional reach. They represent different forms of activity, ranging from communications and industry engagement to infrastructure development and corporate investment exposure. None, on its own, establishes a corresponding increase in XRP network usage or market demand.
The next developments to watch are the announcements and integrations emerging from Swell, the practical use of Ripple’s expanded payments infrastructure, and Evernorth’s planned capital deployment in the fourth quarter of 2026. Evidence of sustained usage and clearly defined institutional activity would provide a stronger basis for assessing the ecosystem’s progress than social media growth alone.
