Ripple has partnered with Privy, the crypto wallet infrastructure provider owned by Stripe, to expand XRP Ledger payment capabilities across consumer applications and AI-powered services. The integration will allow developers to create and manage blockchain wallets programmatically, sign transactions, and build payment experiences using XRP, Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, and other digital assets issued on the network.
Privy’s infrastructure is designed to embed wallet functionality directly into applications, allowing users to access digital-asset payments without having to manage private keys themselves. The integration could help fintech companies and other developers introduce stablecoin payments into existing products while simplifying the user experience. Server-side wallets could also support AI agents capable of initiating and settling transactions through payment protocols such as x402.
Ripple says AI agents have already processed 13 million payments on the XRP Ledger, accounting for approximately 25% of network activity. The figures highlight the company’s growing focus on automated payments, although the announcement does not independently establish how that activity is distributed across applications or payment types.
The partnership builds on Ripple’s broader efforts to develop infrastructure for AI-driven commerce. The company joined the x402 Foundation as a Premier Member in July and introduced its XRPL AI Starter Kit to help developers build applications that send and receive payments using XRP and RLUSD. The x402 Foundation operates under the Linux Foundation, which provides an open governance structure for the payment protocol.
Privy’s integration also comes as institutional infrastructure for RLUSD expands. Standard Chartered has introduced institutional custody support for the stablecoin on the XRP Ledger through its Dubai operation. The bank has separately described plans with Ripple and LMAX Group for a collateral arrangement that would allow eligible institutions to use RLUSD holdings in trading activities, subject to testing, documentation, internal approvals, and regulatory requirements.
Stripe acquired Privy after purchasing stablecoin infrastructure provider Bridge for $1.1 billion. Privy specializes in tools that enable businesses to integrate crypto wallets into their applications, helping developers offer blockchain services without requiring customers to leave their platforms to set up separate wallets.
For RLUSD, institutional adoption and embedded payment functionality could improve accessibility for businesses seeking blockchain-based settlement. However, broader adoption will depend on developer uptake, actual transaction demand, regulatory clarity, and the ability of these applications to deliver reliable payment experiences at scale. Ripple’s reported AI-agent activity points to growing experimentation with automated payments, but sustained commercial usage will be important in determining whether this activity translates into lasting demand for XRP and RLUSD.
