Stellar (XLM) is showing a deteriorating technical structure, with bearish signals dominating its 4-hour and daily charts as the token trades around $0.168. The immediate concern is its proximity to the $0.1670 support zone, a level that could determine whether the current consolidation develops into another downward move or produces a short-term recovery.
The broader technical picture remains unfavorable. XLM is trading below its major daily moving averages, including the 20-day, 50-day, 100-day and 200-day averages, indicating that sellers continue to control the prevailing trend. The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at approximately 38.7, reflecting weak momentum without yet reaching deeply oversold territory. This distinction matters because the market could still experience additional selling pressure before a meaningful technical recovery develops.
The 4-hour structure is even more concerning, with technical readings indicating a strong bearish bias. Although the 4-hour RSI near 47.7 suggests that short-term momentum is not uniformly negative, it has not translated into a confirmed reversal. The alignment between the 4-hour and daily trends therefore continues to favor caution, particularly while XLM remains below its immediate resistance levels.
On the downside, $0.1670 represents the first important support area. A confirmed daily candle close below this level would weaken the existing structure and increase the possibility of an extended decline toward $0.1607. If selling pressure continues beyond that zone, $0.1553 becomes the next important area to monitor. This region is particularly relevant because it approaches the broader swing-low structure around $0.1524. A sustained move below that historical low would further undermine the recovery structure established during the previous upward movement.
However, the bearish outlook is not yet equivalent to a confirmed breakdown. XLM must establish a decisive daily close below $0.1670 to strengthen the downside argument. A temporary move beneath support followed by a rapid recovery would instead suggest that buyers are still attempting to defend the current range.
On the recovery side, $0.1715 is the first meaningful resistance. A sustained move above this level could provide the initial indication that selling pressure is easing. Nevertheless, reclaiming $0.1715 alone would not establish a bullish reversal. XLM would subsequently need to overcome the $0.1760 region, where additional technical resistance could limit recovery attempts. A stronger recovery would become more credible if price could reclaim $0.1815 and begin challenging the broader resistance cluster between $0.1883 and $0.1974.
The daily momentum indicators also leave room for a temporary rebound, but the current position below major moving averages means that any upward movement should initially be treated as a potential corrective recovery rather than evidence of a new bullish trend. A sustained improvement in momentum, accompanied by successful resistance reclaims, would be necessary to change that interpretation.
For the coming days, the most important development is whether XLM can defend $0.1670 or whether sellers manage to establish a confirmed breakdown. Holding this support and reclaiming $0.1715 could stabilize the short-term structure, while losing it would expose the lower support zones around $0.1607 and $0.1553. Until either side establishes control through confirmed price action, the broader technical outlook remains bearish, with downside risk outweighing the evidence for a sustained recovery.
