Prediction marketplace Kalshi is planning to introduce 24/7 perpetual futures tied to major U.S. companies, including Tesla, Nvidia, and Apple, bringing one of crypto’s most popular trading products into traditional equities markets.
According to reports, Kalshi plans to seek regulatory approval for around 60 perpetual futures contracts linked to individual stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). If approved, the products would become the first regulated single-stock perpetual futures available in the United States.
Perpetual futures, commonly known as perps, allow traders to speculate on whether an asset’s price will rise or fall without an expiration date. Instead of settling at a fixed maturity date, traders exchange funding payments designed to keep the contract price close to the underlying asset’s market value.
The product has become one of the largest segments in crypto trading since BitMEX introduced perpetual contracts in 2016. Platforms such as Hyperliquid have expanded the market by allowing traders to take leveraged positions on Bitcoin and hundreds of other digital assets around the clock.
If approved, Tesla or Nvidia perpetual futures could continue trading overnight and during weekends, even when traditional stock markets are closed. This could provide investors with a real-time indicator of market expectations before regular exchanges reopen.
The move comes as regulators and financial firms continue debating how perpetual futures should be classified and overseen in the U.S. As crypto-style trading products expand into traditional markets, questions around leverage, investor protection, and regulatory responsibility are becoming increasingly important.
The key question now is whether Kalshi can receive regulatory approval and whether 24/7 stock perpetual futures can attract traditional investors beyond the crypto trading community.
