Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee believes Ethereum (ETH) could rise well above $10,000 over the next 12 months, although he remains uncertain whether the cryptocurrency will reach that level by the end of this year. His comments, made during an interview at Korea Blockchain Week, reinforce his bullish long-term outlook while leaving the timing of a potential rally open.
Lee addressed the $10,000 target after BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes predicted that Ethereum could reach that price by year-end. Lee described Hayes’ forecast as “conservative,” suggesting that he sees room for a larger advance over a longer time horizon. However, Lee did not provide a specific price target for Ethereum over the next 12 months.
The distinction between the two time frames is central to Lee’s assessment. While he believes ETH could substantially exceed $10,000 within a year, he stopped short of confirming that the milestone would be reached in the remaining months of this year. His comments therefore represent a longer-term price outlook rather than a firm year-end forecast.
Lee also clarified his previous remarks about a potential 25-fold increase in Ethereum’s value. He explained that the figure was not a direct prediction that ETH itself would rise 25 times from its current price. Instead, it was a hypothetical scenario illustrating the potential return that an increase in Ethereum’s price could generate for Bitmine shareholders.
That clarification is important because a company’s share-price performance does not necessarily move in direct proportion to the price of the cryptocurrency it holds or is exposed to. Lee’s 25x reference should therefore not be interpreted as a specific Ethereum price target.
The comments highlight the difference between expressing a bullish view on Ethereum’s long-term prospects and forecasting when a particular price milestone will be reached. Lee sees the possibility of ETH moving significantly beyond $10,000 over the next 12 months, but his remarks leave the year-end outcome uncertain.
For Ethereum traders and investors, the $10,000 level remains a price target discussed by market figures, not a guaranteed outcome. Whether ETH can reach or exceed it will depend on market conditions and the factors influencing demand for the asset. For now, Lee’s latest comments provide a positive long-term outlook without establishing a precise target or timetable beyond the next 12 months.
