OKX is seeking SEC approval to launch tokenized trading for 63 NYSE-listed stocks through its OKXICE joint venture with Intercontinental Exchange.
The platform would operate under the SEC’s new tokenized-securities framework, which requires tokenized shares to preserve conventional shareholder rights, including dividends and voting rights. The proposal remains below the framework’s 75-symbol limit for Tier 1 securities, although the planned stocks have not been publicly identified.
Issuers would receive notice before trading begins and have 30 days to object. Any objection would prevent the tokenized stock from trading under the exemption.
OKXICE must also meet the SEC’s technical requirements and obtain the necessary U.S. regulatory approvals before trading can begin. The application marks a potential step toward bringing blockchain-based equity trading into a regulated U.S. market.
