The NFT market recorded $39.85 million in weekly sales during the seven days ending October 10, marking a modest 0.90% increase compared with the previous period. The growth came despite a sharp decline in market participation, with buyer and seller activity falling significantly across major blockchain networks.
According to market tracking data, NFT transactions declined 6.92% to 778,055, while buyer addresses dropped 85.33% to 30,332. The contrast between slightly higher sales volume and lower participation suggests that activity became more concentrated among fewer market participants rather than reflecting broad-based demand growth.
Ethereum maintained its position as the leading blockchain for NFT sales, generating $17.60 million during the period, representing approximately 44.2% of total weekly sales. The network recorded a 4.52% increase in sales volume, although buyer activity declined significantly, highlighting the continued dominance of higher-value transactions within the Ethereum NFT ecosystem.
Polygon ranked second with $8.62 million in sales, followed by Bitcoin with $3.55 million. Bitcoin-based NFT activity declined 7.33% during the week, while Immutable and Base recorded stronger growth rates, increasing 22.06% and 27.87% respectively.
At the collection level, Courtyard led weekly NFT sales with $7.68 million, accounting for nearly one-fifth of total market volume. The collection’s performance reinforced Polygon’s role in supporting high-volume NFT activity during the period.
Pudgy Penguins emerged as one of the strongest performers among major collections, with sales increasing 125.66% to $1.49 million. The collection recorded higher transaction activity and increased buyer participation, indicating renewed interest from collectors despite broader market participation remaining weaker.
The latest data suggests that the NFT sector is experiencing a period of selective demand rather than a broad market expansion. While overall sales volumes remain relatively stable, declining user participation indicates that activity is increasingly driven by specific collections and higher-value transactions.
Market participants are now watching whether the recent strength from collections such as Pudgy Penguins can translate into broader NFT market recovery or whether current activity remains concentrated around a limited number of projects.
