Hyperliquid’s HYPE token is approaching a critical technical crossroads, with sellers maintaining pressure after the asset retreated from its recent all-time high near $97.98. Trading around $79–$80 on October 17, HYPE has fallen roughly 18% from that peak, placing the market at a level where the next decisive move could determine whether the recent decline develops into a deeper correction or begins to stabilize. The immediate battle is concentrated around the $79 area, where buyers must demonstrate that demand remains strong enough to prevent another leg lower. A brief rebound alone would not establish a bullish reversal; the market needs to reclaim resistance and sustain buying pressure to change the current technical picture.
The four-hour and daily charts currently favor caution. HYPE’s four-hour relative strength index is around 43.5, while the daily RSI is near 34.1, suggesting that momentum remains weak, particularly on the higher timeframe. Although the daily RSI is approaching oversold territory, that condition does not guarantee an immediate recovery. In a persistent downtrend, prices can remain under pressure even after momentum indicators reach depressed levels. The token’s position below key moving averages also reinforces the need for confirmation before treating a bounce as the beginning of a sustained upward move. For now, the structure points to a market attempting to find support rather than one that has already established a reliable bottom.
The first important support zone lies around $79.10, close to the current market price. If HYPE holds above this area and buying activity strengthens, the token could attempt to stabilize and challenge nearby resistance. However, a decisive four-hour or daily close below support would increase the risk of a move toward $78 and then the broader $76–$76.30 region. That lower area is particularly important because it has been identified as a potential technical support zone. If sellers break through it convincingly, the recovery case would weaken further, exposing HYPE to a possible decline toward $70 and the more distant $67.60 region. These are conditional downside scenarios rather than guaranteed price targets, and the strength of any move would depend on volume and the wider crypto market.
On the upside, HYPE must first reclaim the $81.30 area to show that buyers are beginning to challenge the immediate bearish pressure. A sustained move above this level could open a test of $82.45, followed by the $84.40–$85.40 resistance zone. This broader region matters because a recovery through it would indicate that buyers are doing more than defending short-term support. If the token can break above resistance with expanding volume and hold the reclaimed levels on a retest, sentiment could improve and allow a broader recovery attempt. Even then, the previous high near $97.98 would remain a distant reference point rather than an immediate expectation.
Beyond chart structure, Hyperliquid’s market outlook remains closely linked to activity across its on-chain trading ecosystem, demand for perpetual futures, and the broader appetite for risk assets. The protocol’s position in decentralized derivatives trading gives HYPE a distinct narrative, but token performance can still be affected by market-wide selling, leverage, liquidity conditions, and changes in trader positioning. A strong ecosystem does not automatically prevent a token from correcting, just as a price decline does not by itself invalidate the platform’s long-term potential. Traders therefore need to separate the protocol’s underlying adoption from the immediate behavior of the market.
The next move hinges on whether buyers can defend the $79 support area and reclaim the first resistance levels, or whether sellers force a clean breakdown toward lower demand zones. A hold above support followed by a sustained move beyond $81.30 and the $82.45–$85.40 region would strengthen the recovery scenario. Conversely, continued rejection beneath resistance and a decisive loss of the $79 and $76 areas would leave the bearish structure intact and increase the risk of further downside. Until price action confirms one of these paths, HYPE remains at a pivotal point where patience and confirmation matter more than anticipating a reversal.
