Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has revealed plans for a major project in Texas that he says could become the biggest project of his career, while keeping its purpose and details undisclosed.
During a recent YouTube AMA, Hoskinson said he was traveling to Texas to work on the project and expected to announce it publicly before the end of 2026. He described the initiative as “world-changing” and said it would be larger than Cardano, referring to an ambition involving “terraforming the whole planet.”
Hoskinson did not disclose the project's specific field, structure or launch timeline. His comments therefore provide limited information about what is actually being developed, leaving the project's potential scope open to interpretation until a formal announcement is made.
The remarks came alongside a discussion of Cardano governance. Hoskinson said he had previously considered creating a voting bloc within Cardano's governance system that could control roughly 20% to 30% of voting power. The proposed bloc was intended to influence governance decisions, but he said he ultimately abandoned the idea because he expected it to create prolonged conflict within the Cardano community.
Cardano's governance involves Delegated Representatives, stake pool operators and the Constitutional Committee, with major decisions generally requiring participation from multiple groups. Hoskinson said focusing on governance disputes would take time away from other initiatives he wants to pursue.
He instead highlighted projects including Pogun, RealFi and Midnight City, while also expressing interest in areas involving artificial intelligence, blockchain and regenerative medicine. He mentioned a regenerative medicine product that he said is approaching clinical trials.
For Cardano, the comments separate Hoskinson's future activities from direct involvement in a proposed political bloc within the network's governance structure. For the broader market, however, the Texas project remains the more uncertain development because its underlying objective has not yet been disclosed.
The next focus will be Hoskinson's planned announcement before the end of 2026 and whether the project reveals a connection to technology, biotechnology, energy, infrastructure, climate or another field. At this stage, those possible areas remain speculative because Hoskinson has not publicly identified the project's actual scope.
