Brazil’s Oct. 4 presidential election comes as the country’s crypto sector operates under new licensing, reporting and stablecoin-related rules. The final Datafolha poll put Lula at 45% and Flávio Bolsonaro at 42% of valid votes.
Brazil ranks first in Chainalysis’ 2026 crypto adoption index, with an estimated $252.5 billion in activity. At the same time, Central Bank rules require crypto providers to obtain authorization and report certain large transfers involving self-custody wallets.
The election could therefore become relevant for the future direction of Brazil’s digital-asset framework. Flávio Bolsonaro’s official TSE policy index currently lists no specific proposal covering cryptocurrencies, stablecoins or virtual assets.
The key focus after the vote will be whether Brazil maintains its current regulatory trajectory or introduces changes that could affect crypto providers and digital-asset markets.
