Avalanche’s native token AVAX gained 49.7% over the 28 days ending October 11, 2026, significantly outperforming bitcoin and ether during the same period. According to CoinGecko price data, AVAX rose from $7.29 on September 13 to $10.91 on October 11, while bitcoin advanced 9% and ether increased 2.3%.
Despite a recent pullback, AVAX maintained a stronger short-term performance profile compared with the largest crypto assets. Over the final seven days of the period, AVAX declined 1.7%, while bitcoin and ether recorded larger losses of 3.3% and 7.3%, respectively.
The broader market also showed signs of short-term recovery during the latest session. Data from The Defiant’s selected watchlist showed that 36 of 45 non-stablecoin assets were higher over the previous 24 hours as of October 11. AVAX gained 5.5% during that period, although the watchlist represents a selected group of assets rather than the entire cryptocurrency market.
The four-week rally was not a straight upward move. CoinGecko recorded AVAX reaching $11.60 on October 6 before falling to $10.08 on October 8. The subsequent recovery allowed the token to preserve much of its monthly gain, even though it remained below its recent local peak.
The price performance coincided with changes to Avalanche’s network infrastructure. The Helicon upgrade, activated on September 22, reduced the minimum staking period for Primary Network validators from two weeks to 48 hours while maintaining the minimum staking requirement at 2,000 AVAX. The update also introduced automatic renewal for validator stakes.
The shorter staking commitment may provide validators with greater flexibility by reducing the time capital remains locked. However, the change also includes a trade-off, as rewards for shorter commitments are being reduced during a 90-day phase-in period, while the reward for a full-year commitment remains unchanged.
Institutional activity around Avalanche also developed during the same period. Aave Labs proposed a dedicated tokenized-asset credit market on Avalanche that would allow institutions to borrow USA₮ against tokenized collateral, although the plan and stablecoin listing were still subject to Aave DAO approval at the time of the announcement.
These developments provide additional context around Avalanche’s ecosystem activity but do not establish a direct cause for AVAX’s price increase. The market’s next focus will likely remain on whether network upgrades and institutional initiatives translate into sustained adoption and continued demand for the token.
