XRP is facing a narrowing window to reach $1.70 before the end of September, with Kalshi prediction-market pricing indicating roughly a one-in-three chance of the token finishing above that level. The “above $1.70” contract recently traded at $0.32, down from $0.36 a day earlier, even as Kalshi’s displayed September forecast rose to $1.70.
The distinction between the displayed forecast and contract pricing is important. Because each contract pays $1 if XRP reaches the specified outcome, a price of $0.32 implies an approximate 32% market-implied probability, before fees and other trading considerations. The contract has recorded approximately 46,650 trades since the market opened on September 1, with around 10,870 contracts remaining open. Higher price targets carry lower odds: the $1.80 contract traded at $0.19, while the $2.00 and $2.10 contracts were each near $0.07.
XRP has already crossed several September milestones. The $1.40 contract settled in favor of the target on September 3, followed by the $1.50 level on September 21 and $1.60 on September 22. After falling to roughly $1.26 in mid-September, XRP reached $1.64 on September 23 before retreating toward $1.50. At approximately $1.55 early Saturday, the token would need to rise around 9.8% to reach $1.70 by 11:59 p.m. ET on September 30.
Settlement methodology adds another consideration. Kalshi’s contract uses the XRP reference rate published by CF Benchmarks, calculated using a per-minute average that excludes the highest and lowest 20% of prices. Consequently, a brief price spike on one exchange may not be sufficient to satisfy the settlement condition; the reference rate must meet the contract’s specified threshold.
Broader market conditions remain a potential constraint. Bitcoin has struggled to move back above $87,000 and has traded near $84,000, while XRP’s pullbacks have tracked the broader market. The reported $157 million Bitget hack involving XRP also remains a security concern, with the stolen tokens held in wallets that cannot be frozen, according to the source material. Separately, Santiment data cited by Bitcoin.com News indicated that XRP’s average long-term trader remained down 11.75% over a 365-day period despite the September recovery.
Longer-term prediction-market pricing presents a different picture. Kalshi’s contract for XRP finishing 2026 above $2.00 rose to $0.59 from $0.53, while the $2.50 contract increased to $0.33 from $0.26 and the $3.00 contract climbed to $0.24 from $0.19. The contrast suggests that traders are pricing a more favorable possibility of higher prices by year-end than of reaching $1.70 within September’s remaining days.
Spot ETF flows provide another data point. U.S. spot XRP ETFs reportedly attracted $22.65 million on September 25, led by Bitwise. However, the inflows have not yet been accompanied by a sustained move above $1.60. The immediate focus is whether XRP can regain that level and build enough momentum to challenge $1.70 before the September contract expires.
