NFT sales climbed 24.57% to $47.14 million over the seven days captured on October 17, according to CryptoSlam data, while Bitcoin NFT sales surged 132.05% to $8.25 million. Ethereum retained the leading position among blockchains with $19.59 million in sales, as buyer addresses increased sharply across several major networks despite a decline in total transaction counts.
The data points to a week in which reported NFT sales value and wallet participation diverged from transaction activity. Buyer addresses rose 252.23% to 107,061, while seller addresses increased 192.38% to 89,117. At the same time, transactions fell 32.35% to 507,562. Because wallet addresses do not necessarily represent unique individuals, these figures indicate changes in recorded participation rather than a direct count of new users.
Based on the reported weekly growth rate, NFT sales during the preceding seven-day period were approximately $37.84 million. The latest total therefore represents an increase of roughly $9.30 million. However, the rolling seven-day comparison differs from the snapshot published a week earlier, which recorded $39.85 million in sales. Different reporting cutoffs and measurement windows mean the figures should not be treated as directly interchangeable.
Ethereum generated $19.59 million in NFT sales, an 18.48% increase from the previous seven-day period. Its share amounted to approximately 41.6% of the overall market total, reinforcing its position as the largest blockchain by reported NFT sales during the measurement window. Buyer addresses on Ethereum increased 261.50% to 15,371, while CryptoSlam separately reported $1.61 million in wash-trading volume.
Polygon ranked second with $8.38 million in sales, down 1.99%, despite a 172.77% increase in buyer addresses to 27,419. The tracker also identified $18.72 million in wash volume for Polygon, a separate measure that should not be confused with the sales figure used in the blockchain ranking.
Bitcoin ranked third, recording $8.25 million in NFT sales, up 132.05%. Buyer addresses increased 269.59% to 4,594. The network's stronger weekly performance made it one of the most notable gainers among the leading blockchains, although the reported sales total does not establish whether the increase reflects broad-based demand or a small number of high-value transactions.
That distinction is particularly relevant because a single $8888 BRC-20 transaction accounted for $2.97 million, approximately 36% of Bitcoin's reported weekly NFT sales. The concentration suggests that individual transactions can materially influence short-term blockchain rankings and growth rates. Bitcoin's performance should therefore be evaluated alongside transaction counts and the distribution of sales across collections.
BNB Chain recorded $4.10 million in sales, up 116.91%, while Immutable generated $2.55 million, down 5.19%. Base recorded $1.88 million, a 7.33% decline. Buyer addresses rose across all three networks, even where reported sales decreased. Taken together, Ethereum, Polygon, Bitcoin, BNB Chain, Immutable and Base accounted for approximately $44.75 million, or 94.9% of the overall sales total.
Collection-level data showed a similarly uneven distribution. Polygon-based Courtyard led with $7.68 million in sales, up 1.65%, across 133,157 transactions. However, its buyer addresses fell 13.99% to 18,131, while seller addresses declined 3.88% to 15,380. The divergence between sales value and wallet participation indicates that changes in transaction size or trading composition may matter as much as the number of participating addresses.
The $8888 BRC-20 category ranked second among collections with $2.97 million in sales, an 807.52% increase. The entire total came from one transaction involving one buyer address and one seller address. This concentration makes the percentage gain less representative of a broad expansion in activity than the headline figure might initially suggest.
Ethereum-based Argonauts placed third with $2.75 million in sales, up 104.70%, across 994 transactions. Pudgy Penguins followed with $2.56 million, a 77.03% increase, across 407 transactions. Bitcoin-based $ATMC BRC-20 NFTs recorded $1.43 million, up 156.87%, while Guild of Guardians Heroes on Immutable-Zk generated $1.41 million, up 4.92%. CryptoPunks, by contrast, recorded $1.34 million, down 45.49%.
High-value individual sales further illustrated the role of transaction concentration. CryptoSlam's detailed ranking placed the $8888 BRC-20 inscription at the top, followed by two $X@AI BRC-20 transactions worth approximately $638,448 and $514,873. An Uniswap V3 Positions NFT-V1 transaction on Ethereum ranked next at approximately $217,866, followed by an ADA Handle sale on Cardano valued at approximately $205,083.
These transactions demonstrate that the NFT market encompasses assets with different purposes and valuation mechanisms, from collectible inscriptions to blockchain-based financial positions and domain-style assets. Consequently, aggregate sales figures combine activity that may not reflect a single underlying demand trend.
Broader cryptocurrency market conditions provide additional context but do not establish a direct cause for the NFT sales increase. The supplied October 17 snapshot placed Bitcoin near $81,523 and Ethereum around $2,429, while total cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at approximately $2.84 trillion, down 0.87% over 24 hours. Those readings cover a different timeframe from the seven-day NFT data and cannot, on their own, explain the change in NFT activity.
The next important indicators are whether NFT sales remain elevated across subsequent rolling periods, whether buyer participation translates into sustained transaction activity, and whether growth becomes more evenly distributed across collections and blockchains. Bitcoin's weekly performance will also require closer scrutiny of sales concentration, given the outsized contribution from a single transaction.
For now, the data show a recovery in reported NFT sales value accompanied by substantial increases in buyer and seller addresses. Ethereum remains the largest network by sales, while Bitcoin's sharp gain highlights the influence of BRC-20 assets and high-value transactions. Whether the latest increase represents a durable expansion in market demand will depend on the persistence and breadth of activity in the weeks ahead.
