NEAR Protocol has staged a sharp rebound, climbing approximately 14% over 24 hours to trade near $5.20–$5.30 in the latest available market observations. The recovery follows a volatile period in which the token dropped toward $4.53 before buyers regained control. The move has shifted the immediate technical outlook toward recovery, but NEAR now faces a critical test: whether the latest advance can develop into a sustained breakout or whether resistance will trigger another round of selling.
On the four-hour and daily charts, the available technical readings indicate improving momentum. NEAR is trading above several key moving averages, while the daily Relative Strength Index is around 57, suggesting positive momentum without an established overbought signal. However, the strength of the rebound should not be confused with confirmation of a durable trend reversal. After a rapid price increase, short-term volatility can remain elevated, and buyers still need to demonstrate that demand can absorb selling pressure near the next resistance zone.
The first important area to watch lies between $5.35 and $5.40. This zone represents the nearest resistance identified by current technical assessments, with additional resistance around $5.62–$5.65. A convincing four-hour close above $5.40, followed by a successful retest, would strengthen the recovery argument and bring the higher resistance zone into focus. A move toward $5.98 would become a more relevant possibility if buying pressure continues through those intermediate barriers. Nevertheless, an intraday wick above resistance would be weaker evidence than a sustained close supported by continued momentum.
The support structure is equally important. The $5.00 area is the immediate level separating a sustained recovery from a potential loss of momentum. Below it, approximately $4.79 provides another reference point in the current daily technical structure. A retreat toward these levels would not automatically invalidate the rebound, particularly if buyers defend support and price begins forming higher lows. However, a sustained daily close below $5.00 would weaken the immediate bullish setup, while a deeper decline through $4.79 would increase the risk of a broader correction. The earlier low near $4.53 remains an important reference if selling pressure intensifies.
The fundamental backdrop may also be contributing to the improved sentiment. Current market commentary has associated NEAR's advance with Mert Mumtaz joining the NEAR Foundation Council, alongside renewed interest in altcoins and reported growth in the ecosystem's Intents activity. These developments provide context for the recovery, but they do not independently establish that the rally will continue. Price confirmation remains essential, especially after the sharp decline that preceded the latest advance.
NEAR's near-term direction therefore depends on whether buyers can convert the rebound into a confirmed break above $5.40. If that occurs, $5.62–$5.65 becomes the next meaningful resistance area, with the previous high near $5.98 representing a broader test. If price instead fails at resistance and loses $5.00, the recovery could give way to renewed consolidation or a deeper pullback. For now, the technical picture has improved, but the decisive signal will be whether NEAR can sustain its gains above resistance rather than simply extend a short-lived bounce.
