Ethereum withdrawals from Binance have climbed to their highest monthly average in three years, with the number of withdrawal transactions surpassing 90,000, according to CryptoQuant data cited by market reports. The increase comes as ETH trades above $2,700 after gaining roughly 80% from around $1,510 three months earlier.
The rise in withdrawals can indicate that investors are moving ETH away from exchanges and into private wallets or other forms of custody, potentially reducing the amount immediately available for sale on centralized platforms. However, the transaction count alone does not establish that the coins are being held for the long term, as withdrawals can also involve transfers to custodians, staking services, bridges or other exchanges.
The signal becomes more notable because Ethereum has been outperforming recently, with the asset climbing from roughly $1,510 to above $2,700. The withdrawal activity therefore points to stronger demand for moving ETH away from Binance even as the market price has advanced sharply. Whether that represents sustained accumulation will depend on whether the elevated withdrawal rate continues and whether exchange balances decline alongside it.
At the same time, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs have provided a conflicting signal. Reports show three consecutive sessions of outflows totaling about $404.7 million, while August's cumulative ETF inflows fell below $190 million. This divergence leaves the market watching whether exchange withdrawals can persist strongly enough to offset weaker ETF demand.
The key focus is therefore not simply the record withdrawal count, but what happens to ETH custody and fund flows next. Continued withdrawals alongside improving ETF flows would provide a stronger indication of sustained demand, while renewed exchange deposits or continued ETF outflows could weaken the accumulation narrative.
