Netflix shares are trading around $67, nearly half their $134 peak in June 2025, as concerns over slowing growth, content spending and intensifying competition weigh on the company’s stock. Shares have declined approximately 27% since the beginning of 2026, reflecting continued pressure on its market valuation.
One challenge highlighted by Netflix’s co-CEO is the cost efficiency of live programming. Live events account for approximately 5% of the company’s content budget but generate only around 1% of total viewing time. This imbalance raises questions about whether the spending allocated to live content is generating sufficient audience engagement to justify its cost.
Competition presents another challenge. Amazon, Apple and YouTube are competing for viewers and their attention, increasing pressure on Netflix to maintain audience engagement while managing content expenses. The combination of slower-than-expected growth and competitive pressure has become a central concern for investors assessing the company’s outlook.
From a technical perspective, $61 represents an important level to watch. A sustained break below this threshold could intensify selling pressure, while the stock’s ability to stabilize above it may help determine whether the recent decline continues. The key question is whether Netflix can improve growth and content-spending efficiency to support its valuation.
