Yi Lihua, founder of Liquid Capital, has warned that Bitcoin’s recent short-term breakout could be a bull trap, although he said the cryptocurrency’s broader uptrend on the daily chart remains intact. His assessment suggests the latest market pullback may be a correction rather than a confirmed trend reversal.
According to Yi, Bitcoin’s price action resembles a false breakout, in which a temporary move higher fails to sustain momentum. He views the current decline as a correction within the existing upward channel, meaning the broader bullish structure has not yet been invalidated.
The key level in his analysis is $82,000. Yi said that if Bitcoin holds above this support, the current correction could come to an end and the broader uptrend could resume. However, a decisive break below $82,000 could expose the market to a deeper pullback.
Liquid Capital has also indicated that it does not intend to pursue short-term speculative gains during the current correction or attempt to capture the final stage of the uptrend. Instead, the firm plans to wait for clearer market conditions and more convincing trading opportunities.
Meanwhile, CoinGlass data cited in the report showed that $326 million in leveraged cryptocurrency positions were liquidated over a 24-hour period. Long positions accounted for $196 million of the total, while short positions represented $130 million, indicating that forced closures affected traders on both sides of the market.
Bitcoin was trading near $83,020 at the time of the report, down 0.47% over 24 hours. At that price, BTC remained above the $82,000 level identified by Yi, although the relatively narrow gap between the market price and the cited support makes that threshold an important level to monitor.
The next move will depend partly on whether Bitcoin can maintain support around $82,000 and recover upward momentum. A sustained hold could support Yi’s corrective-pullback interpretation, while a breakdown below that level would increase the risk of a deeper decline. Neither scenario is guaranteed, and the $82,000 level remains an analyst-identified technical threshold rather than a confirmed market floor.
